Welcome to FreedRow Productions

A man’s work is nothing but this slow trek to rediscover, through the detours of art, those two or three great and simple images in whose presence his heart first opened.”

– Albert Camus.

It went down like this…

FreedRow Productions consists of a one-man band, Federico Morales, with a team of frequent collaborators. It was started in Tokyo, Japan in 2008, but relocated to Vancouver, Canada in 2013. Since then, we have made a series of shorts, web series, and features.

The Philosophy

Although started in Japan, FreedRow Productions is essentially a Canadian company. We are focused on telling Canadian stories and collaborating with Canadian cast, crew, and distributors. Of course, we intend to distribute internationally, but from a unique Canadian perspective both in content and themes.

The Situation

The truth is that there is a saturation of content and platforms to see that content. For anybody who has sat down for a movie night and has spent twenty minutes just scanning what movie to watch on Netflix – you know the frustration of being overwhelmed with content. With such a huge amount of content, how can an independent production company get noticed?

“Fredo in the cut – that’s a scary sight!” – Chief Keef.

Our Approach

Our approach is to make content that is unique; that falls outside of expectations. Movies tend to follow a formula, and it’s all the same – even the trailers have become predictable and repetitive. In contrast, we make content out of left field, unexpected, even a bit strange…

Will you like it? Will you consider it a good movie or show? We sure hope so, but one thing we can guarantee is that it will be different than what you have seen. A successful film for us is something that leaves an impression – maybe just a scene, an image, a piece of dialogue – but it leads to introspection, conversation, action.
